Returning to her subtropical hometown in the gentle coolness of a southern December, SHYU Hsin will be present at Gallery de sol to share the experience behind “1111 project: Waiting for Solstice”—her encounter with a summer that never saw the sun set in Iceland.

SHYU’s practice begins by placing herself in unfamiliar environments. From the seemingly motionless act of “waiting,” she gradually cultivates a distinct way of observing and responding to time, nature, and the human condition. This approach grew out of her diverse academic paths—life sciences, architecture, and visual arts—each shaping her humility toward nature, physics, and the internal landscapes we inhabit. Through this lens, she translates her perspective into a contemporary artistic language marked by quiet clarity: a subtle trace that reveals the extraordinary within ordinary scenes.

Minimal yet never empty, this is her way of attending to the world—and of treasuring her own lived experience.
