Master vs. Contemporary
At Gallery de sol, our self-definition and aspiration is to “never stop trying new and playful things.” As we enter our seventh year, we intend to continue doing just that.
Visitors who have seen our exhibitions this year may have noticed a small trick: weve begun experimenting with isolating a gallery room that displays only a single work (or a single series). This approach comes from our own whim, but it also aims to create a quiet space where viewers can take their time to converse with a work. Even with the same piece, the more you spend with it, the more unseen details continuously reveal themselves.
Therefore, we decided to move away from presenting works as a single temporary exhibition and instead adopt a permanent display format, dividing the space in two: one side presents classic master prints, while the other features contemporary printmaking presented as “one room, one work.” This way, visitors can enjoy both experiences in a single visit.
